Tunnel found below the floor of Vidhan Sabha, where the 70-member assembly sits during its sessions. The Assembly administration is working towards opening a British era tunnel used to ferry freedom fighters from Red Fort to court during the colonial rule.The tunnel is said to be 7 km long from the Delhi Assembly to Red Fort but only the opening is visible. “It’ not practical to renovate the entire tunnel due to construction of several pillars of flyovers, sewage and water lines but we are developing it as an archeological site to make the people and future generations aware about the sacrifices the freedom fighters made for us, “said Goel.

New Delhi: To make `right to water' accessible to all in the Delhi city , Delhi Jal Board (DJB) decided to provide individual water connections to every household in jhuggijhopri clusters and villages, and even in basements and rental properties. Delhi already has 19 lakh functional connections and after the implementation of the DJB Jal Adhikar scheme--which was announced on Monday-officials expect this figure to rise manifold.

Delhi Police have booked a retired Delhi Jal Board (DJB) official and a serving zonal regional officer of the organisation for allegedly siphoning off more than Rs 2 crore through fraudulent transaction of forged water bills with the help of employees of a private firm “outsourced” by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), said sources. The retired DJB official was also a zonal regional officer, the sources added. TCS manages DJB’s revenue management system, but they have also hired some employees of a private firm, said a police officer.
